MAHBOOD LEN SELIGMAN'S UPCOMING CD
Just in: Mahbood Len Seligman's new recording project will feature Carey in a duet with Len, and in harmony with Wendy Lanxner. Len is a fine, ebullient singer/multi-instrumentalist and long-time student of Sufism who often provides original music in diverse styles for interfaith worship. His studio band is top-notch and the project is being recorded and engineered by the best: Chris Murphy of RHL Audio.

THE VALLEY OF LOVE AND DELIGHT
Recently at the two-day Washington Folk Festival in Glen Echo, Maryland, Carey performed with Finnegan’s Jig and with Grace Griffith and Lynn Hollyfield, and then she did her own set with a full band. In addition to the burbling robins, Carey’s group for the day included Bob Williams, Scott Giambusso, Dan Reynolds, and Steve Bloom, who collectively elevated the music to a much higher realm.

LYNN HOLLYFIELD'S NEW CD
This spring and early summer, soul-full Lynn Hollyfield performed a series of concerts to celebrate the release of her wonderful new recording. The contemporary folk songs on Lynn's CD, Layers, are wise and gentle, charming and lyrical. Lynn and her usual cadre (Dave Abe, Steve Wolf, Jimmy Brink and Grace Griffith) deliver shimmering, toe-tapping music both on the recording and in person.

IN GOOD COMPANY
Members of the Washington Area Music Association (WAMA) nominated Carey to receive the Contemporary Folk Vocalist award once again this year. Last year she was happy and honored to take home two Wammies: one for Contemporary Folk Vocalist and the other for Contemporary Folk CD (Peace of Wild Things). Check out all the winners and nominees for 2009--the D.C. area has an embarrassment of riches in every musical role and genre.

HEART EXPANSION ‘ROUND THE WORLD
Carey’s recorded music has been used in some exciting ways, such as:
- in a video about the Interfaith Federation of Greater Baton Rouge, a charity with folks from all three major Abrahamic faiths and many other religions working together to help local people--many of whom have suffered from the devastation of Hurricanes Katrina and Gustav.
- as a selection aired within a broadcast marking Yom HaShoah--Holocaust Day--on WorldWaves, a program dedicated to “Peace, through good music” on Radio Upper Galilee, Israel, near the Lebanese border. (Menachem Vinegrad, the host, is also co-organizer of Jacob’s Ladder Festival, an acoustic music lovefest in its 30th year).
- at Body, Mind & Spirit gatherings, yoga classes, and women's spirituality groups.
- on Danny Watson's Folk Show in Australia, where the host pondered--through selected songs--the meaning of war, in conjunction with ANZAC Day (roughly the Australian and New Zealand equivalent to our Memorial Day).
