| 11th Annual Crawfish Boil |
| The 11th Annual Hungry for Crawfish Boil took place on May 7, 2005 at Ft. Hunt Park in Alexandria, VA. Crawfish lovers were in heaven as they consumed over 3,000 pounds of crawfish, expertly seasoned and boiled by the pit crew and pit crew chief, Hank Arrington. Patrons also enjoyed their fair share of corn, potatoes, bread, and choice of drink. Of course, it wouldn't be an authentic crawfish boil without music and The Grandsons and Dixie Power Trio had boil goers dancing all afternoon with their vast repertoire of songs. Almost $8,000 was raised through ticket & t-shirt sales. Deepest appreciation to the Crawfish Boil Committee for once again making the event a huge success. Hungry for Music exists, in large part, because of the support received over the years from everyone involved, especially the hosts. |

| Maryland High School Students Start Music Club to Support HFM |
Students at Walt Whitman High School in Bethesda, MD have started a music club to raise money and instruments for Hungry for Music and other music programs. The students have been collecting instruments to donate to Hungry for Music and recently held a fundraiser to support the choir at Ballou Senior High School in Southeast Washington. Whitman student Peter Swiek organized the club because he realizes the importance that music can play in people's lives. It's encouraging to see these kids making a difference in their community. |

| Shoe Company Steps up with Guitar Donations |
The international shoe company, Rockport, recently had a marketing promotion with blues legend B.B. King . For the promotion, they had 150 Gibson Epiphone guitars specially manufactured. Once the promotion was over they had no use for them. After finding Hungry for Music on the internet, they offered us 100 of the guitars. We recently received the guitars and will distribute them in early 2004. Some of the guitars will go to the New Jersey-based non-profit Little Kids Rock, who offer guitar instruction to children in San Francisco, New York, New Jersey, and Memphis. Also, the Tipitina's Foundation in New Orleans will receive 10 of the guitars. The Girls Rock N Roll Camp in Portland, OR will receive 10 guitars. The remaining guitars will be raffled or auctioned to raise money for other instruments. Many thanks to Rockport for their generous donation. |
| Violins To Mexico |
| The first of two shipments of violins was sent to an orphanage in Magdalena, Mexico in February. A representative from Bridges Across Borders contacted us about the special needs of an orphanage who had a willing teacher and mentor, but no instruments. With the second shipment, at the beginning of April, our donation will total 20 violins of various sizes. Bridges Across Borders tell us that they would like to expand the program to Cambodia and Columbia/Panama, South America. When they do, Hungry for Music will be there to provide the instruments. |
