h-feastI was honored to have my Christmas song, "One Last Letter to Santa,"  appear on the eighth, and newest volume of Hungry for Music's annual  collection of both original and popular Christmas songs performed by  Washington DC area bands. (December 2005)  Another local musician, Roger Henderson, joins me on guitar and harmony  vocals.

I was thrilled when Barbara Ryan and Bernard Argent decided to  include it on IONA's latest release, A Celebration of Twenty (May  2006), a double CD celebrating IONA's 20th anniversary, which won the 2006 Wammie Award for Folk - Traditional Recording. One Last Letter to Santa
© 2005, Loralyn Coles, BMI
(on Holiday Feast 8, Hungry For Music)

I know I’m too old to write to Santa
It’s been years since I left my childhood
But I still know how that letter gonna start
“Dear Santa, I’ve been very, very good”

Well Santa, you’re shocked, no doubt, to get this
The spelling’s good; there’s no backward “e’s”
And I know you’re busy making all those toys
But don’t toss it aside, Santa, please

‘Cause I could use a little more hugs and kisses
A little more chocolate, and of far greater worth
A little more peace in my heart to help bring
A little more peace on earth

This year has been a hard one for me, Sir
I’ve reached the end of what I know to do
So I’m writing you even though I’m all grown up
You’re a sign that miracles can come true

And I could use a little more hugs and kisses
A little more chocolate, and of far greater worth
A little more peace in my heart to help bring
A little more peace on earth

One last letter to Santa
At the North Pole, top of the world
One way to say, I love what you do
P.S. I still believe, thank you

We all could use a little more hugs and kisses
A little more chocolate, and of far greater worth
A little more peace in our hearts to help bring
A little more peace on earth
Please bring a little more peace to our hearts to help bring
A little more peace on earth
