This Time...

If you liked Colleen's first album, LET'S GO FOR THAT RIDE, then you'll definitely like her new one, THIS TIME. It includes more of Colleen's originals plus songs from other songwriter's such as Delbert McClinton, Willie Nelson, Charlie Rich and Rick Roberts of the Flying Borrito Brothers. As Mike Joyce of the Washington Post states, " Placing your own stamp on Willie Nelson's "Night Life" and Charlie Rich's "Who Will Your Next Fool Be" isn't easy, but Shanley manages to do that as well before the album draws to a close."

ENDLESS CIRCLE AROUND

You're burning the bridges before us
You make it impossible to pass
You can't see the trees from the forest
That this love of ours just won't last

We've tried and tried to pull this together
We've made ourselves this big mess
We've driven through some thunderous weather
But I'm tired of being second guessed

No matter what I say you look the other way
No matter what I do I just can't satisfy you
So let's just call this the end
I think we've played out our hand

We've walked this shore one too many times We've sunk our feet into the sandy ground We've toed the edges of this line And it's an endless circle around

There are times I've dreamed we've made it
There are times I've loved your face
There are times I've dreamed we've hated
This road that's led us to this place

We've walked this shore one too many times
We've sunk our feet into the sandy ground
We've toed the edges of this line
And it's an endless circle around
It's an endless circle around
It's an endless circle around
It's an endless circle around

I'LL TRY, BABY

I can't explain these feelings, churning in my soul
From all these years of loving you and how it showed
Sometimes I try too hard to read between the lines
I seemed to miss the light of your neon sign

You just turned and walked away
I didn't know what to say or do - watching you
You didn't even turn around
I thought that maybe you'd say
I'll try. I'll try, baby.

All those years of trying why can't you see this through Have the blinding eyes of time had their way with you It seemed so easy for you to walk away Why couldn't you find the love and the strength to stay

You just turned and walked away I didn't know what to say or do - watching you

I should've seen this coming I feel like such a fool
But the way you turned on me was very cruel
Get on your way I'll work through my pain
I now can see all my love has been in vain

You just turned and walked away
I didn't know what to say or do - watching you
You didn't even turn around
I thought that maybe you'd say
I'll try. I'll try, baby."
You just turned and walked away
I didn't know what to say or do - watching you
You didn't even turn around
I thought that maybe you'd say, I'll try.
I'll try, baby I'll try, baby. Well, bye, bye baby.

CALLING DR. JEKYLL

When you get behind the wheel do you ever get to feel
Like you turn into Mr. Hyde
Do you feel the person you are won't get you that far
If you don't change inside
You might be a Mr. Softie until you turn that key
Or you might be a Miss Attitude Free until you hit that highway speed

Then it's out of my way no matter what those signs say
Cause you just left that gate
You're in a hurry there's somewhere you got to be
You swear you won't be late
When you get out on that highway you feel the change take place
You just know if you don't take control you will lose the race

Calling Dr. Jekyll help me with Mr. Hyde
He's got me twisted and shook up inside
Calling Dr. Jekyll you've got to help me please
Oh this fast way of life is killing me

Everyday 's the same everybody plays the game
Including you and me
It's like a traffic jam we all try to cram
Our days into our weeks
We spin our wheels so we can feel the heat under our feet
We feel compelled to excel beyond insanity

Calling Dr. Jekyll help me with Mr. Hyde
He's got me twisted and shook up inside
Calling Dr. Jekyll you've got to help me please
Oh this fast way of life is killing me
Oh this fast way of life is killing me

DONE TO ME

You play with my heart you mess with my mind
You do me wrong time after time
You tell me you love me then step over that line
Can't you see what your love has done to me

You're running the streets while I'm home in bed
I'm tortured with heartache and these scenes in my head
I'm seeing blue when I should see red
Can't you see what your love has done to me

I can't believe this is happening to me
I'm losing my grip on reality
Take a look at me baby do you like what you see
I'm just an empty shadow of the woman I used to be

I feel like a pawn in a dangerous game
You do the damage while I take the blame
You set the fire and I go down in flames
Can't you see what your love has done to me
Can't you see what your love has done to me
Can't you see what your love has done to me
Can't you see what your love has done to me

SHE'S LATE AGAIN

He's been spending all these years chasing dreams and having fears
Of the toll that life can take and the pain that love can make
He's been spending time alone trying to keep their house a home
But it's so hard to tell cause his life feels just like hell

It's another lonely night why does his life feel like a fight
Trying to find a better way to get through just one more day
And the lines of talk have gone dead the angry words just fill his head
And the slamming of the door God, there's got to be something more

There must be more out that front door
But he forgets it's been so long
He stays at home and he waits for her
He's so use to this she's late again

He can't go on like this living life this way
He knows it's time to leave maybe one day

She's been spending all his time feeding him a bunch of lines
Telling him that work's a drag but it only makes him sad
Cause he knows it's all a lie he can see it in her eyes
He wants the guts to say that he's leaving here today

There must be more out that front door
But he forgets it's been so long
He stays at home and he waits for her
He's so use to this she's late again
He's so damn used to this
She's late again

I FALL

Drip drop drip drop
The raindrops start to fall
Can't stop no I can't stop
I keep taking that fall

Deeper and deeper steeper and steeper
No matter which way I go I fall

You say you say
That I'll be all right
But I pay yes I pay
With this pain that I fight

Deeper and deeper steeper and steeper
No matter which way I go I fall
Oh I fall yeah I fall oh I fall I fall
I fall for you

I try yeah I try
To stay above ground
Time flies oh how it flies
And you're still around

Deeper and deeper steeper and steeper
No matter which way I go I fall
Oh I fall yeah I fall oh I fall I fall
I fall for you

THIS TIME

This time I'll tell you the truth
I know I'm through with you
Don't tell me anymore lies
Cause right now I'm breaking these ties

And this time I'm aware
I won't take none of your scares
And this time I'm thinking of me
Yeah it's my heart now
This time

This time these words feel right
I don't cry for you at night
There were too many times in my past
I knew I wouldn't last

This time I'm aware
I won't take none of your scares
And this time I'm thinking of me
Yeah it's my heart now
This time

It isn't funny that love can be so blind
You say you love me and yet you so unkind.
You're so unkind
Yeah, but

This time is your last time
You just keep crossing that line
You take to living a lie
So this time I'm saying good-bye

This time I'm aware
I won't take none of your scares
And this time I'm thinking of me
Yeah it's my heart now this time
Yeah it's my life now
This time

I DON'T CARE

You ask me what I want and where I want to be
In ten years from now man that's so hard for me
I've never put my life to a time line
It's a wonder that I'm here are you just as surprised

Now don't you worry I'm not going nowhere
For this I've searched too long to leave it would be wrong

We're not that young anymore but we know better now
Than we did ten years ago we've stayed alive somehow
We can reach for the stars and have our dreams come true
There'll be no stopping us our fears are overruled

Now don't you worry I'm not going nowhere
For this I've searched too long to leave it would be wrong
I admit there are times I know I'm crazy
And I admit there are times I know I'm scared
But I don't care. No, I don't care

We can sail on the wind and follow that sunshine
Cast our seeds into the ground and watch them grow with time
We have something certain here to put our hearts into
To feel the realms of our minds and to ourselves be true

Now don't you worry I'm not going nowhere
For this I've search too long to leave it would be wrong
I admit there are times I know I'm crazy
And I admit there are times I know I'm scared
But I don't care
No I don't care
