Skye cave find
western Europe's 'earliest string instrument'

"Archaeologists believe they have uncovered the remains of the earliest stringed instrument to be found so far in western Europe. The small burnt and broken piece of carved piece of wood was found during an excavation in a cave on Skye. Archaeologists said it was likely to be part of the bridge of a lyre dating to more than 2,300 years ago."

"In 2003 TCB, a band based in the Washington area, created a spinoff sound from go-go called bounce beat. Bounce beat is a heavier version of its ancestor that relies on timbales, drums, keyboards and bass to form its signature sound. The ACRE Residency Program takes place every summer in rural Southwest Wisconsin. Developed as a means to support emerging visual artists and musicians, the program provides artists with the opportunity to expand upon their individual practices as well as take part in optional programming within a collaborative community. Additionally, visiting artists are invited to conduct studio visits and present lectures, discussions, and workshops. Residents can apply for a 12-day residency or are free to determine the length of their stay for a reasonable day rate. The residency supports 25-30 residents at a given time. Susie Mudd, 'Music Monthly' Publisher, Dies

Susie Mudd, rock music journalist and publisher of the Maryland-based music magazine Music Monthly, died of cancer April 5. She was 56.

Her family has scheduled a memorial service on Sunday, April 22nd at 3:00 at Peaceful Alternatives on York Road in Cockeysville (next to the Stil).
