New Releases

  • Guatemala's popular folk-swinging country band, Kemosabe, has released its first recording,1995. Members are comprised of Washingtonian Jeff Harding, with Jack Schuster, Tim Bond, and Waldemar Gil.
  • Sudden Records announced the third CD release for the band Foggy Notion, titled Mission. This CD was recorded in Boston and was produced by film composer, Dan Brenner, who' s most recent film, The Rhythm Thief, won awards at The Sundance Film Festival.
  • The Birchmere recently held a party for Amanda McGill for her first CD Faithful.
  • Fifth Column Records has made a new distribution deal with Caroline, and has released new recordings with Chemlab, Haloblack, and Acumen.
  • Story Eyes Productions released the Iffy Lee cassette singlein the mix b/w shake, with guest guitarist Lenny Holmes. To order send $5.00 to P.O. Box 11231, Richmond VA 23230.
  • Susan Graham White's upcoming release Show a Little Heart is her second solo effort. Recorded at Lion & Fox, the recording includes 11 songs (one co-written with Tom Paxton), and features David Buskin, Mike Stein, Rico Petrucelli, Al Petteway, Robin Batteau, and others.   • Deeme Katson will release her new CD ComingAttraction at the Birchmere on September 12th.
  • Tenor saxophonist Ron Holloway's new CD Struttin' is available, his second release from the Milestone label.
  • Boud Deun is releasing their first cd, Fiction and Several Days on E.H.P. Records and has signed a distribution deal with MUSEA, a French label and distributor. Locally, the cd will be available at many area stores, and by mail directly from E.H.P. Records (703/349-8402).
  • Rabbid Rabbit Records will release their third Spitting Seeds compilation of Maryland music. Cuts from Spitting Seeds 11 are being played on radio stations across the region. Contact RRR at 1723 Aliceanna Street, Baltimore, MD 21231,410/5630351.
  • Singer-songwriter Carolyn Jane's debut is entitled Every Reason Every Season. This 11-song compilation was recorded, engineered, and co-produced with Peter Bonta at Wally Cleaver's in Fredericksburg.
  • Get Off My Blue Comet Tail is the new release from The Blue Comets, on Hand Made Records. The CD was produced by Shuman Recording, Airshow and Oasis.
  • The Want's debut Too Much Stuff, released on Selling the Ranch Records, is available at Tower Records, Technotronics, Veneman's, Record and Tape Exchange, Sound Garden, and the Local Music Store.
  • WAMA has many members who reside outside of the Washington area, some of these artists include D.C. on their tour schedules. Richmond, Virginia in particular has a thriving music scene and their groups play in the D.C. area regularly. New CD releases from our Richmond area member Keith Abbott Promotions include disks by Ted Holden and Los 10 Space. Grammy award winning engineer for Bruce Hornsby, Wayne Pooley worked on Los 10 Space's debut release on Gem Street Records entitled Newspaper Rock. Ted Holden's Killer My Way is on Tiki God Records.
